Gillian is three parts New Jersey, one part Queens and one part Tennessee. Geoff, Paul and Brian grew up making music together in NJ, but picked it up again when they found themselves in the same place years later: New York City, 2012. Soon enough the group found queens native Alex to join on bass and Knoxville transplant kym to balance out the group. They all immediately felt a connection and dubbed themselves "Gillian" in honor of another close friend.
The band quickly began writing and rehearsing, and soon “Freak Flag” was released in November 2013. The single received praise from noteworthy tastemakers "Death+Taxes" and some international buzz from London’s popular music mag "The 405."
Meanwhile, on the home base Gillian began to earn a reputation for their live performances. Their shows are known in New York City as energetic and intimate gatherings: full of catchy melodies, complex, syncopated rhythms, charismatic interplay between the front-man and -lady, with lots of ultra-tight hits and breaks in between.
Gillian’s sophomore album, “The Eyes In My Head” dropped July ’14, followed shortly by a promotional East Coast Tour which took the band as far south as Athens, GA and as far west as Chicago, IL. The newer release shows them growing sonically and expanding from the straight-up guitar pop found in “Freak Flag”, adding deeper textures with effects pedals and synthesizers,  yet never abandoning the catchy hooks and tight, punchy rhythms they are known for.
The five-piece releases their next EP, Colorize in the 2015 spring season, and already Gillian is writing songs for their fourth release with a possible launch date in the winter of 2015.
